Kids Martial Arts

Q: “Will martial arts, karate, tae kwon do teach my child to be hostile and aggressive?”

Absolutely not. Children learn a lot about what it means to be respectful and polite here. As a result, kids who weren't violent in the first place become even more respectful and kind. Kids with behavior problems often become very respectful and calm.

Q: “Does my child face a risk for injury with martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Our program is extremely safe. We have measures upon measures in place to insure that your child will stay safe, and have a great time. From stretching to warmups to very close supervision - we've got your child covered. Injuries do happen sometimes - but they're quite rare.

Q: “Can my child still participate in martial arts, karate, tae kwon do if he/she is not athletic?”

Yes! In fact, martial arts is kind of a beacon of light for kids who just don't fit into team sports. Kids who never could throw a ball well or run fast find that martial arts is accessible to them. It's something they excel at, and as a result, their confidence soars.

Q: “Do kids enjoy martial arts, karate, tae kwon do? Do they stick with it for a while?”

Kids have a blast here. There's smiling and laughter throughout every class. We have our moments of intense concentration and focus... but we always balance things out with fun and games to keep everything alive and light.

Q: “Do children's confidence & self-esteem grow with martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Absolutely. Kid with low self-esteem often come out of their shells. As their skill level increases, they feel more and more confident. Other kids look up to them, just as they look up to other kids who are ahead of them. It builds a sense of confidence, pride, and teamwork.

Q: “What ages are the other kids in the martial arts, karate, tae kwon do class?”

We have classes for kids as young as 3, and as old as teenagers. Martial arts is the kind of thing that grows with you. So as kids get older, they learn new techniques, perfect old ones, and advance. When they're younger, it's more about fun and games, with learning thrown in too.

Adult Martial Arts

Q: “Can martial arts cause injury?”

Because we place such a huge focus on safety and injury prevention, we're proud to say that injuries are very few and far between with our program. In fact, because martial arts gets you in great shape, and makes you strong and flexible, people often see LESS injuries in their lives.

Q: “What level of fitness is required for martial arts?”

You'll get in shape as you go. You don't have to be in great shape to start.

The great thing about martial arts is you can be at any fitness level and do great. That's because there's no rush or pressure to do anything quickly. You can learn at your own pace.

If you have a knack for it, you can speed through techniques. If it's a bit harder for you, take your time. All we care about is that you're having fun, learning and progressing, and staying safe.

Q: “Is martial arts violent?”

No! Because self-defense technique is taught in martial arts, it's often thought of as violent. However, the philosophies behind martial arts revolve around peace and harmony. The moves are more of a way to become connected with your body. We teach diplomacy and friendship. However, if a violent situation ever arises in your life, you'll have powerful tools to defend yourself and your loved ones.

Krav Maga

Q: “Do I have to be in good shape to start?”

Absolutely not! Come in whatever shape you're in. If you're not in great shape - our classes will greatly improve your physical condition. If you are, then we'll help you stay in shape, and probably get in even better shape, too.

Q: “Can I participate in these Krav Maga classes if I have a medical condition?”

If you have a medical condition, or past / present injury, we advise speaking to your doctor before starting our Krav Maga classes.

The good news is you can adjust your pace to match your physical ability. If you have to go a bit slower than the rest of the class, that's just fine. And no one will judge you. You'll have tremendous support.

Q: “Can I get injured?”

Injuries are very rare here. We've put a lot of work into designing a program that's both fun & effective - while being extremely safe. Our Krav Maga classes have a track record for being injury-free.

Q: “What's the environment of these classes like? Are they fun? Serious? Etc.?”

Our classes are a good mixture of fun & focus. Every class has moments of serious concentration, blended with sheer fun & laughter. After all, all work and no play makes for boring Krav Maga classes!

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Q: “What kind of physical shape does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu require?”

You can start BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) no matter what kind of shape you're currently in. Because it's a great workout, you'll get in awesome shape in no time.

Q: “I have a past injury / medical condition. What pre-cautions should I take before getting started?”

Just talk to your doctor, and see what he/she says. If you get the green light, come on in and get started. If there are conditions around your training - just let us know what your doctors says you can / can't do. We just want to make sure you're safe and sound.

Q: “Are there women in the classes?”

Yes! While the majority of our BJJ students are men, there are women who come and have an awesome experience, too.

Q: “What's the class-environment like here?”

In a nutshell: supportive, fun & focused. BJJ tends to have a “family-like” vibe. After all, you're constantly challenging yourself, and striving to be your best in every class. This creates a real sense of camaraderie & team - which is part of the awesome BJJ experience.

Q: “Are these classes only for competitive BJJ?”

Not at all. We have a good blend of competitive guys, hobbyists, and people just looking for a kick-ass workout.

Q: “I'm a competitive fighter. Will these classes help me in my matches?”

Definitely. Our expert instructors will work with you to strengthen your weak points... boost your strong points... get you in amazing shape... and prepare you mentally for your matches.

Muay Thai

Q: “Should I get in shape before signing up?”

Any! Our classes help people who aren't in shape, get in shape. And they help people who are in shape get in even greater shape, fast.

Q: “Will my past injury / medical condition interfere with classes?”

Contact your doctor, and see what he/she says. If your doctor has any questions for us, let us know and we'll gladly answer them!

Q: “Are there a lot of injuries with Muay Thai training?”

Not at all! No one here wants to hurt anyone else. It's like a big team - or family - here. We all train, work hard, sweat and grow stronger together. That, combined with the pre-cautions we've taken to prevent injuries, means that injuries are very rare here.

Our classes are for BOTH competitive fighters - as well as people just looking to get an awesome work out, and learn a powerful martial art. If you're a competitive fighter, you'll get the attention you need to become quicker, stronger, more agile, and full of impeccable technique. If you're not, you'll get a kick ass workout that'll get you lean & toned in no time.
